Gathering of Eagles III
part 1
I have been to several Gathering of Eagles events, including the three that really count. This one was by far, the worst when it came to the left and the abject hatred that could be seen and heard.( I am working on an OCS packet and I was trying to conduct myself accordingly.) XXXX.!!!! Those people make it very difficult not to want to get down and dirty.
First, let me say that the Gathering of Eagles III or Operation Eagle Justice was a success. I believe we had a better crowd than the GOE II. I know there were conflicts for several groups who would normally attend, but it was all good.
What you won’t hear in the news is who came to speak at our rally…We had Buzz Patterson, Mark Levin, Melanie Morgan, from Move America Forward and the biggest surprise of them all-Duncan Hunter. Kristinn Taylor, of Free Republic, Chris Hill from Gathering of Eagles and many Military Moms and Dads spoke. I should not forget to mention Kevin Martin, Navy Veteran extraordinaire. What a motivator that guy is!! You can’t help but love him. He speaks from the heart as do most of “us” who have something to say. But, here is a guy who just let’s the unpatriotic, the deniers, and all have it. He talked about how we are getting the job done and “excuse the hell outta him, but he wasn't’t ready to go live in a cave!”
Everyone who spoke had a message. In the end, it is our job to support the troops, there is nothing else if we want to keep our Country great. WE are that beacon of the world, that shining city on a hill, despite those who steadfastly deny the facts. I have to say, I cried a lot. I cried when we sang our National Anthem, I cried when they played that song to honor the fallen…Mansions? It’s complete title escapes me, but I stood at attention and just cried. Eventually, we heard from Gold Star Parents and Deborah Johns, whom I had heard speak here in Raleigh with MAF. These parents are awesome. I say this because again, their sons have laid down their lives or continue to serve. But there is not one ounce of bitterness to hear them speak. They are proud. They do still grieve, But they can move forward knowing that freedom is still ours. That is how they see things. They don’t blame the President for their sons or daughters’ calling. They don’t claim an unjust war. They understand that Freedom is never free. They continue on and bear the burden of that cost, for their Children and the Country.
If only it were the same for the Iraq Veterans or other Gold Star Mothers who marched with ANSWER..
