I won't forget....

You know, Bruce Springsteen came up with some mighty powerful lyrics on his "the Rising" CD. I listened to it every day for a year while I got back into being a trainer.  It is what motivated me to no end.  I have never forgotten. Not one single, solitary day goes by when I don't think about the freedoms afforded me and mine at the hands of others who have chosen to sacrifice above and beyond...Since 2004, I have done alot of things to show that I am aware of these sacrifices every day. I have run the Army Ten Miler, I have donated AC untis, sponsored troops, sent care packs, stood against the enemy within and I continue to do so. As a veteran, it is all about Duty, Honor, Country. Today, as the 6th anniversary nears it's end, I tell you that I took my Flag from her post, put on my best red shirt and took a little walk. And, as the time was marked for the planes that hit, the towers'collapse, the Pentagon and Flight 93...I stood with my flag at "half-pole" and marched onward for 8 miles. In that time, only four out of 42 passing cars gave me a thumbs up, or a honk. One person did stop and say "God Bless America." I leave you wtih the immortal words of Springsteen. He captured how it must have been all that day....

Into the Fire
The sky was falling and streaked with blood
I heard you calling me then you disappeared into the dust
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

You gave your love to see in fields of red and autumn brown
You gave your love to me and lay your young body down
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need you near but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire

Chorus

It was dark, too dark to see, you held me in the light you gave
You lay your hand on me
Then walked into the darkness of your smoky grave
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs into the fire

Chorus

You're Missing

Shirts in the closet, shoes in the hall
Mama's in the kitchen, baby and all
Everything is everything
Everything is everything
But you're missing

Coffee cups on the counter, jackets on the chair
Papers on the doorstep, you're not there
Everything is everything
Everything is everything
But you're missing

Pictures on the nightstand, TV's on in the den
Your house is waiting, your house is waiting
For you to walk in, for you to walk in
But you're missing, you're missing
You're missing when I shut out the lights
You're missing when I close my eyes
You're missing when I see the sun rise
You're missing

Children are asking if it's alright
Will you be in our arms tonight?

Morning is morning, the evening falls I have
Too much room in my bed, too many phone calls
How's everything, everything?
Everything, everything
You're missing, you're missing

God's drifting in heaven, devil's in the mailbox
I got dust on my shoes, nothing but teardrops

I will not forget, Freedom cannot be crushed!
